Fancy interwoven knots, braiding pattern variations, styles and color can show creativity in quirts (remember that color dyeing is hard on rawhide, but roo is sold in a variety of colors for those so inclined). Traditionally, CA styled quirts are, give or take, 16 inches in length for the body. A ring to clip onto a snap on the saddle is an option. A tapered popper for mature horses and a rounded popper for colts can be ordered.
Only seen on the West Coast, the Dorrance style removable romal is more akin to a quirt than the standard romal which is also detachable. It is braided on custom CC's romal reins.
