Halter your horse. If he won’t “stand” on command, have someone steady him to keep him relatively still. Position yourself directly in front of him or her with your soft tape.

Run your index finger and thumb down the prominent nasal bones of his face until you feel your fingers drop in. Using a soft tailor’s tape, encircle the area with the tape set at an angle to rest in the chin groove. 



Measure 1-1.5 inches above the drop in point on the face. Then, measure the circumference. Just bring the tape barely snug, not tight. This is your horse’s inside measurement for a custom bosal.
